Dogs come when they're called; cats take a message and get back to you later.

The Catmafia: a name that invokes the mental image of cats in trench coats and hats, holding guns. A name which was chosen at random by me, when playing a "let's-make-up-stupid-words" game with my friend. A name which adequately describes the motives of the group of cats who reside in my neighborhood, and their structured underground-society.

The Catmafia was started in March 2007, and was hosted by Jacky. I gave up my old domain, Twiskers.net, because of financial problems. Since then, things have changed, and when it became possible for me to register thecatmafia.net and move back to my own hosting space, I jumped at the chance. As much as I enjoyed being hosted by Jacky, I really like having my own space and my own domain. I'm a bit of an "own" freak.

This site is hosted on Dreamhost, whom I highly recommend. They had some problems recently, but that was the first major downtime I've seen in my entire three years as a customer there. I'm really happy with their performance overall, and they offer a lot for the price they ask. My domain is also registered with them.

Layout

This is an Autumn layout with a twist. It's slightly more tropical than Autumn, but I decided to throw in some leaves and a cat wearing a scarf for good measure. Unlike my other two layouts, this wasn't a random chance happening. I sat down and decided I was going to draw another cat for use on a layout. It was boring at first, but then I added a scarf. And lo, the Autumn theme was born. It looks a bit more web 2.0-y than my other layouts, which was what I was aiming for. I wanted to keep the vintage feel to it though, so I added the flower patterns from Squidfingers. Keeping to the cat theme, I added a random cat-quote generator to fill space, and that's basically all.
